Rizhao
Rizhao, literally means sunshine in Chinese, name after the saying that it is the earliest place to receive sunshine every day, located at the southeast of Shandong Province, facing Yellow Sea to the east, bordering Linyi to the west, Lianyungang of Jiangsu Province to the south, Qingdao and Weifang to the North. Rizhao has a coast line of 168.5km and covers a land area of 5359 km2. It has Donggang District, Lanshan District, Ju County, Wanlian County, Rizhao Economic Development Area, and Shanhaitian Tourism and Vacation Area under its jurisdiction with a population of 2.96 million.
With time honored history and profound Culture. Rizhao is the cradle of Longshan Culture and Sun Worship origin of the world. The character engraved on the black pottery unearthed from Linyanghe Site of Ju County was more the 1000 years earlier than oracles, proved to be the source of the Chinese characters. Ju Culture, Qi Culture and Lu Culture are acknowledged as the three cultures of Shandong. Rizhao is also a cradle of celebrities, such as Jiangshang, a famous militarist and statesman of West Zhou Dynasty, Liu Xie, a Literary critic of the South and North Dynasty, and Dr. Samuel C.C Ting the physicist and Nobel prize laureate.
Boasting pleasant climate and excellent ecology, Rizhao is located at the Geographical boundary of the south and the north of China, neither server cold in winter nor scorching hot in summer. With diversified products and abundant resources, Rizhao is the major production base for marine fishery, grain and livestock products in Shandong, and 24 specialties have been awarded as the National Geographic trademark, such as green tea, silkworm, blue berry, chestnut and cherry. The tea farm area and yield of tea in Rizhao takes 60% and 75% respectively of Shandong Province. Rizhao green tea is known as the best green tea in Northern China. The output, quality and export quantity of Mulberry silk ranks first place in China, and the production volume of blueberry and chestnut respectively ranks as 2nd place in china, 3rd place in Shandong Province.

Connected to the convenient Port and land transportation network
Rizhao is the eastern bridge head of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge, and the key nodal city of the Belt and Road Initiative, hence the reputation, reaching the world by port and connecting Eurasia by bridge. As a rare natural deep port, Rizhao port has 62 berths in operation and has navigation connections with more than 100 countries and regions. In 2016, the throughput Capacity of Rizhao port reached to 383 million tons, ranking the 8th largest in China and 11th largest in the world coastal ports. Among which the import volume of iron ore as well as the handling capacity of nickel, wood chips and soybean take the leading place in Chinese sea ports. Rotterdam of Holland, Antwerp of Belgium and other European ports could be reached by railway from Rizhao Port. Qindao-Rizhao-Lianyungang railway will be completed and connected to Qingdao-Jinan High-speed trunk in 2017. Southern Shandong high-speed railway will be completed and connected to Beijing-Shanghai network. Rizhao Airport has flights to 16 major cites of China now.
As a remarkable port related industry base
Rizhao is an ideal place to develop large scale port related industry. It is a rising base for advanced manufacturing and coastal industry in Shandong Peninsular as well as Southern Shandong Economic Belt. We are working on building a series of industrial carriers, including a national industrial park, 4 provincial industrial parks, and a comprehensive free trade zone, China-Australia industrial park, China-Korea industrial park and aviation industrial park. Now, the port related leading industry system has been formed, which consists of steel, auto parts, petrochemical, paper and pulp, grain and oil processing. The processing capacity of soybean ranks the 2nd place in China and fine sugar production ranks 1st place in the world.
