I am a passionate teacher who is dedicated to student success. My personality is very friendly and adaptable. Previous experience teaching abroad has shown me how important the above qualities are in a teacher. As an educator who is sincerely interested in the field of English education and who genuinely cares about the progress of students, I am constantly seeking ways to improve my teaching abilities. Having a friendly and adaptable personality has proven vital for professional development in different cultures.
My personal career goals involve three stages. Originally these stages were to complete a master's degree in Applied Linguistics, teach abroad for three to five years, then return to the U.S. and find permanent employment as an ESL teacher at a university or community college. After one year of the master's program, I have realized how useful the networks I have created at university will be for that third step of finding employment in the U.S. For this reason, I have decided to teach abroad before completing the second year of the master's degree. By doing this, I will be in a better position to utilize those networks for finding a permanent position in the U.S.
As I intend to teach college or university level in the future, I would like to find employment in the same area abroad. Having experience teaching oral communication to high school students in Japan as well as experience teaching international students at a U.S. university, I feel I am well-qualified for such a position. Thank you for your consideration.
