Dear Sir(s)
My name is Tommy Hallqvist. I was born in 1970, I¡¯m single and I live Gävle, Sweden. I wish to apply for the position of XXX.
For many years I¡¯ve been interested in working on/with the Eastern Europe market. As a result of my many travels to Russia, Belarus and Ukraine I¡¯ve gained experience of contacts both on the personal and the professional level. This provides me with an unique insight into the Eastern European culture, the Russian mentality and the Russian language. Russia and the Russian language/culture are my main passion in life and I¡¯m actively searching for an opportunity to develop that part of my professional skills.
During the 90¡¯s I conducted numerous trips to Russia, mainly to Siberia (Khakassia). Some of the trips were sponsored marketing trips (STORA, NUTEK), while others were field studies related to my C-and D-Thesises (Uppsala University).
In March 2001 I obtained my Master of Arts degree at Uppsala University (major: Russian, minors: East European Studies, wood technology). During the same year I worked as a conference interpreter for the LMV (Lantmäteriverket).
In February 2003 I completed the Swedish Trade Council Program: Certified Export Assistant, during which I was an intern at the company Loggtech (production of forestry equipment) situated in Alfta, Hälsingland. My work consisted of: written translations of manuals/website and interpretation on client visits from Russia. This program included an English Crash Course at the Salisbury School of English.
From November 2006 through December 2008 I worked as a Leader of Study Circles (HTML, Internet, Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements, languages) at ABF and Medborgarskolan.
Since January 2009 I am employed by ABF Gästrikebygden, where I am responsible for computer support, education in computers/Internet/Russian.
During the period August 2011 - February 2012, I worked on and completed an application for a human aid project in Belarus. The application work included short overseas services in both Belarus and Ukraine. I was at the time the Swedish project manager and I reported on the project development, made written and oral translations from and into Russian/English.
Why should you hire me?
I¡¯m very results-oriented; I like high demands and extreme challenges. I enjoy working both independently and in groups. My high-level Russian skills, Academic merits, enthusiasm and extensive experience working/living in East Europe makes me a very well suited candidate for this position.
Personal interests: Theater, Football, Floor ball, Web design, image- & video editing.
Yours sincerely
Tommy Hallqvist
