I had always dreamt of seeing China, and now that I've spent 6 months here, I only want to experience more of this fascinating country.
Even before my oral English teaching experience at Jiaxing University, I had experience in education, but on the publishing side, as a writer. With editing, proofreading, and published writing on my resume, I felt particularly qualified to teach English. I also hold a B.A. in Anthropology, the perfect degree for an adventurer in new cultures. Now with my teaching experience, I feel I am ready for new teaching horizons.
I want to be immersed in the Chinese culture. I want to learn Mandarin, a valuable 21st century skill, not to mention a beautiful language. More than anything I want to teach what I¡¯m best at: the English language. I know this will be a rewarding experience.
In addition to my experiences in China, Mexico, and Canada, I spent 8 months in the Alaskan bush. I dealt with many a traveler¡¯s curve ball out there: no running water, sketchy utilities, supply problems, and a Native American culture as foreign to me as Mongolian. This has left me a very adaptable person. Frankly, I feel like I can handle anything the "world of work" has to offer.
