My passion for Chinese culture and language began nearly nine years ago in high school when I joined Chinese class on a whim. Ever since that day, I have done my best to find authentic Chinese experiences for me to be a part of. I have taken Mandarin language courses, been a member in the Chinese American Student Association at my University, and sought out native speakers in China to practice my Mandarin with. My main reason for wanting to teach besides wanting to be the person that can provide adult students these same opportunities in China is that I want to be in an environment where I can be immersed in Mandarin. China has such a beautiful and rich history and language that is quite different from American culture and American English and I want to explore that difference to the best of my ability while I am in China as an English teacher. This will provide a much more authentic and meaningful learning experience for me.
This desire is what ultimately led me to wanting to teach in the first place. In college, I thought that if I was to be able to be the person that I mentioned in the previous paragraph, then I should study hard and make sure that I am qualified for the job. That is why I added Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) as a minor concentration for my Bachelor’s of Arts in English Linguistics. I thought that a 33-credit hour program in conjunction with my 200-hour certification program from the International TEFL Academy would not only demonstrate my commitment to my own education, but to the education of my future students as well. I am a very professional-minded, hardworking, and dedicated person who takes their job very seriously and I am looking for a company that will help me continue to grow. Will that company be your's?
